Faculty

Fifteen world-renowned scientists, called faculty, lead Seattle BioMed's research efforts. Each of these scientists heads an independent research lab with a focus on studying bacteria, parasites and viruses using molecular biology, genomics, systems biology and other approaches. Our scientists cut across a wide variety of disciplines and areas of expertise, allowing for the exchange of ideas that is the hallmark of Seattle BioMed's collaborative nature. Affiliate faculty are among our closest partners, working directly with our principal investigators and other members of the research staff.

Our faculty have chosen to study diseases that pose the world’s biggest threats to health, but are often the most neglected in terms of research. Seattle BioMed scientists thrive in our state-of-the-art institute that pairs the brightest scientific minds with the most innovative technologies to generate new knowledge, develop effective solutions and ultimately combat the world's deadliest diseases.
